Welcome to the Fitness Foundations Video Series!
What is Fitness Foundations?
In this series, we go over some basic movements, beginning bodyweight exercises, and beginner to progressively harder exercises that utilize multiple muscle groups, and work balance and core, utilizing NO equipment so you can just focus on you and the movement Each video is quick (10-20 minutes), and scalable so that you can do it once, or multiple times for added benefits. Why do we need it?
Too often, people jump into crazy exercise routines, bite off more than they can chew, or set unrealistic standards and expectations. Fitness is a lifelong journey, not a race. You want to set yourself up for success, thinking about your future self every step of the way. I know that sounds super fluffy and self-helpy, but its true! So while it may not be exciting to start slow, its a way to set yourself up for success in the long run. While it is true that true body composition and shape changes happen with heavy lifting and large, compound movements, everyone has to start somewhere. We will get to those lifts, but for now, we want to make sure that you are happy, healthy, and preparing your body and mind for what is to come. Remember, us Geeks want to do this for life, not just for a few months.
Who is it for?
This series is geared towards my fellow geeks, gamers, and cosplayers, but it is beneficial for anyone who finds themselves sitting too much (myself playing too much World of Warcraft), busy with societal work/life balance issues (all work and no play makes Jane a sad panda), and busy parents (MOMS UNITE). This series is an excellent place to start if you are interested in starting your fitness journey, if you have had a few months off and are interested in starting again, or may be recovering from some sort of injury. With doctors approval to start exercise of course! Are you short on time? Short on equipment? Get bored easily? Then these are for you!
